Following the current circumstances regarding Foot-and-Mouth Disease in South Africa, it is of great importance that the risk of spread to our cattle, sheep, and goat breeders and farmers is limited as far as possible.
Therefore, we at Bloem Show are taking the responsible decision, in the interest of our stud breeders, associations, and the broader agricultural sector, to restrict the gathering of cloven-hoofed animals on the Bloemfontein showgrounds until further notice. As a result, the Bloem Show cattle and small-stock show for 2026 is cancelled.
This decision has not been taken lightly and follows extensive consultations with industry leaders and stakeholders.
HOWEVER, all the horse championships will continue.
Bloem Show is the host of the largest open air Saddle horse show in the world, with just less than 1 000 horses and representatives from the USA.
Visitors can look forward to meeting the delightful Miniature Horses at this year’s Bloem Show. These small yet elegant horses are known for their gentle nature and friendly personalities, making them a firm favourite with families and children.
Experience the excitement and skill of Tent Pegging, a traditional equestrian sport that showcases precision, speed, and horsemanship. Watch skilled riders gallop at full speed while using lances or swords to strike ground targets, demonstrating incredible control and teamwork between horse and rider.
Step back in time and witness the craft of a Blacksmith in action. This live demonstration highlights traditional metalworking techniques used to shape iron and steel using fire, hammer, and anvil.
Visitors can see firsthand how tools, horseshoes, and decorative items are forged, offering a fascinating glimpse into a historic trade that is still valued today.
Since Bloem Show was already established in 1883, it has a successful track record for more than 142 years. Thus more than 350 exhibitors, a combination of entertainment, the largest creative crafts section in the country, a dairy product show, exciting Fun Fair and the best stud breeders competing at the agricultural section.
A jam-packed program over 10 days, ensures a fun filled, value add experience of a lifetime.
The Dairy section attracts entries from across the country and from all national brands, where they compete with cow, goat and sheep milk products.
Besides the agricultural activities at Bloem Show, you can also visit the Creative Arts exhibition. Bloem Show now officially has the largest Creative Arts section in the country with annually more than 2000 entries in this section.
