BLOEM SHOW 2011 – ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS!
08:19 (GMT+2), Tuesday, 21 June 2011

Bloem Show 2011 that was held from 28 April to 7 May 2011 was yet another great success
thanks to hundreds of role players, exhibitors, breed societies, breeders, sponsors and visitors.
The start of the show was characterised by cold weather, little rain and many public- and school
holidays. However, we were blessed with fair weather conditions throughout the show period.
What stood out was the great support and positive attitudes that we enjoyed.

In terms of numbers, just under 100 000 visitors entered through the gates over the ten days
period. This represents a slight decline of 1,3% from the record number of visitors in 2010, but
is still 10 000 more than the attendance in 2009. For the first eight days, more people went
through the gates than in 2010, but the rain and cold weather of the last two days definitely had
a negative impact on the attendance of the Oval track race and the Jazz festival during the last
weekend of the show.

The SA Saddle Horse Championship was once again an enormous success with 987 entries.

The SA Five-gaited Championship was won by Brave Heart Warrior, with Hanlo Smith from
the Juhantha Stables in the saddle.

The CMW “Back to Back” wool challenge was a big attraction. Visitors were amazed to see
the whole process from shearing the sheep, spinning the wool and then knitting a garment from
the spun wool. The competition was conducted in a wonderful spirit throughout! Daily sheep
shearing demonstrations also took place. All this had great educational value to young and old
who visited Bloem Show.
